Since Google Podcasts is shutting down in April 2024, it's time to find a new home for your favorite shows. Luckily, Google is making the switch to YouTube Music as smooth as possible by offering a transfer tool. Here's how to move your Google Podcasts subscriptions to YouTube Music:
Before You Begin:
- Download the YouTube Music app if you haven't already (available on Android and iOS).
- Make sure you're signed in to YouTube Music with the same Google account you use for Google Podcasts.
Transferring Your Subscriptions:
- Open the Google Podcasts app. You'll see a banner at the top about the shutdown and the option to export your subscriptions.
- Tap "Export subscriptions."
- Choose "Export to YouTube Music" to transfer your shows directly. There's also an option to export to another app in a different format.
- In the pop-up window, tap "Transfer as [your email address]" to confirm.
- YouTube Music will open, prompting you to "Continue" the transfer. You might see a warning about podcasts not available on YouTube Music. Don't worry, you can still add those shows manually later.
Adding Podcasts Not on YouTube Music:
- Open the YouTube Music app.
- Go to the "Library" tab.
- Select "Podcasts" from the top menu.
- Tap "Add podcast" in the corner.
- You can then browse popular podcasts or search for a specific show.
- If the podcast isn't listed, select "Add a podcast by RSS feed" and paste the show's RSS feed URL (found on the podcast's website) into the box.
All Set!
With a few taps, your podcast subscriptions and listening history should be transferred from Google Podcasts to YouTube Music. Now you can continue enjoying your favorite shows seamlessly in the new app.
Bonus Tip: Explore YouTube Music's podcast features. You can create playlists for your favorite episodes, download shows for offline listening, and even adjust playback speed.
Happy listening!
